Great Battle IV is one of those weird, fun SNES gems that never made it outside Japan. It's part of this crossover series where heroes from different anime and manga team up—think Gundam, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman all in one chaotic run-and-gun. The sprites are surprisingly detailed for an SNES game, and the controls actually feel tight, which isn’t always a given with these older shooters.
You start off blasting through waves of enemies with a basic shot, but pretty soon you’re swapping between characters mid-stage, each with their own quirks. The Gundam guy’s beam rifle melts bosses, while the Kamen Rider’s melee feels weirdly satisfying. It’s all in Japanese, but honestly, you don’t need to understand much—just point and shoot.
If you’re into retro action games with a weird mashup vibe, this one’s a blast.
