About Gokujou Parodius
Konami released Gokujou Parodius for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. It was part of a wave of Japanese shooters that made the SNES library so diverse. The game takes characters and enemies from other Konami series and puts them into a frantic, side scrolling shooter.
You control one of several oddball characters, like the penguin from Antarctic Adventure or the Vic Viper ship from Gradius, flying horizontally and blasting everything in sight. Your main goal is simply to survive each stage, defeating the large boss waiting at the end. Key mechanics include collecting bells to power up your ship with options and screen clearing bombs, while a slot machine power up system can randomly grant you a huge advantage or a useless chicken. The pacing is relentless, with enemy patterns and level hazards demanding quick reflexes. Playing it feels like being caught in a cheerful, chaotic storm of bullets and absurdity.
