Genghis Khan II on SNES is one of those deep strategy games where you spend half your time staring at menus and the other half nervously watching tiny armies clash. At first, it feels overwhelming—you’re juggling taxes, diplomacy, troop movements, and whether to marry off your kids for political gains (yeah, that’s a thing). But once you get the hang of it, there’s something weirdly satisfying about slowly painting the map with your faction’s color.

The battles are simple but tense—just numbers clashing with some basic tactics—but the real meat is in the empire management. Mess up your economy, and suddenly your armies starve mid-campaign. Piss off the wrong neighbor, and you’ll get swarmed. And good luck keeping your generals happy—half of them have the loyalty of a stray cat.

It’s definitely a product of its time (don’t expect flashy graphics), but if you like slow-burn strategy where every decision ripples across years of gameplay, this one’s got a weird charm. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of three hours trying to conquer a single stubborn province.
