Ganbare Goemon - Yuki Hime Kyuushutsu Emaki is one of those weird, charming SNES games that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s a blast. You play as Goemon, the blue-haired, pipe-smoking ninja (yeah, really), bouncing around feudal Japan with his buddy Ebisumaru to rescue a snow princess. The controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to the rhythm of throwing coins and hopping on enemies, it clicks.

The art style is pure 16-bit Konami—bright colors, goofy animations, and these little details like villagers bowing when you walk by. There’s even a weird slot machine mini-game between stages where you can gamble for extra lives. Just don’t expect a deep story—half the dialogue is probably funnier if you understand Japanese, but the absurd tone still comes through.

If you’re into retro platformers with personality, this one’s worth dusting off.
