About Frankenstein
Frankenstein came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by DTMC. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games on the system, where developers tried to translate a film's story into a side-scrolling action format. You see a lot of that from this period, games built around a recognizable property but having to fit into the platforming and combat mold the console did well.
You control the monster himself, moving through large, multi-stage levels screen by screen. Your main goal is simply to survive the journey, fighting off villagers, soldiers, and other creatures that get in your way. The gameplay involves a mix of melee attacks with your powerful arms and using objects you find in the environment. A key mechanic is the choice between a direct, brute force approach or a more tactical one, sometimes framed as brains versus brawn. The levels are long and the game can be quite difficult, demanding careful movement and pattern recognition. It feels like a relentless struggle against a world that wants you dead.
