About Football Fury
Football Fury came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by SNK. It was part of that wave of arcade style sports games that focused on quick matches rather than deep simulation, fitting right in with the kind of pick up and play experiences many of us were looking for on the console at the time.
You control a full football team, selecting a play from a simple menu before each snap. The main goal is to score touchdowns by either passing or running the ball into the end zone. Two mechanics define the action: a turbo button for a temporary speed burst that helps you break tackles or rush the quarterback, and a straightforward passing system where you target a receiver with a single button press. The game moves at a very fast pace, and the difficulty comes from the aggressive computer defenders who react quickly to your plays. It feels like a condensed, energetic version of football where every down is a frantic scramble for yards.
