About First Queen - Ornic Senki (japan)
First Queen: Ornic Senki came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Culture Brain. It was part of that wave of mid-90s Japanese strategy games that tried to blend different genres together on the console, offering something a bit different from the standard action or RPG fare.
You control a hero and can recruit a whole army of different units, from knights to archers, directing them across large, connected battlefields. The main goal is to lead your forces through these sprawling maps to defeat enemy armies and complete scenario objectives. Key mechanics include the ability to issue simple formation commands to your troops and a shared item pool that your entire army draws from, which makes managing your resources a constant consideration. The game moves at a deliberate pace, as you maneuver your groups into position, and it can be quite challenging when enemy forces swarm your units. It feels like conducting a messy, unpredictable battle where your plans often fall apart in the best way.
