Fighter's History is that SNES fighting game where Data East basically said, "Hey, what if we made Street Fighter II... but with a lawsuit?" The resemblance is uncanny—same six-button layout, similar special moves, even the announcer sounds like he's doing a bad Ryu impression. But it's got its own weird charm, like the way characters visibly bruise as they take damage, or the fact that you can knock an opponent's hat off mid-fight (which, honestly, never gets old).

It's jankier than SFII, sure—hit detection feels a little off, and some characters are straight-up broken. But there's something oddly satisfying about landing a perfectly timed elbow smash with Karnov, or cheesing your way through arcade mode with the ninja girl. Just don't expect Capcom-level polish.
