About Fatal Fury Special (europe) (beta)
Fatal Fury Special for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was a beta version of the game that never saw a full European release. It was developed by Takara, and it arrived during a time when the SNES was a primary platform for home conversions of popular arcade fighting games. This particular version was an update to Fatal Fury 2, intended to refine the experience for console players.
You control one of many fighters, like Terry Bogard or Geese Howard, and your objective is to defeat all opponents in one-on-one battles to become the champion. The game features a two-plane system, letting you jump between the foreground and background to dodge attacks and create openings. You build a special meter by landing hits, which allows you to unleash powerful desperation moves. The pacing is fast, and the computer opponents can be quite challenging, demanding quick reflexes and a good grasp of each character's moves. It feels responsive and direct, capturing the tense back-and-forth of a good arcade fighter.
