Fantasy Empires is a real-time strategy game released in 1993 for MS-DOS. Developed by Silicon Knights and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc., the game is set in the Dungeons & Dragons campaign world of Mystara. It presents a top-down perspective for both strategic management and real-time combat, supporting gameplay for up to five players who can compete against each other.

Players control a faction, beginning by creating a character and setting up to four computer-controlled opponents. The core gameplay alternates between two primary modes. On the strategic map, players manage their realm by constructing buildings to train various unit types, casting spells, handling diplomacy, and allocating resources. They can also dispatch heroes on quests and use spies to disrupt rival factions. Progression involves expanding territory, forming alliances, and recruiting armies to strengthen one's position against adversaries.

When armies engage, the game shifts to a real-time tactical combat screen. Here, players directly command their units in overhead view battles. A computer-controlled character called The Dungeon Master provides contextual commentary during these encounters. The game integrates these strategic and tactical phases, where success in managing the kingdom directly influences the forces available for real-time conflicts, aiming for dominance over the fantasy landscape.
