About Family Dog
Family Dog was a 1993 release for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Imagineering. It arrived during a period when licensed games based on cartoons were quite common on the platform, and this one adapted the short-lived animated series of the same name.
You control the dog, Brandy, through a series of side-scrolling suburban levels. Your main goal is to rescue your puppies, who have been scattered around the neighborhood by the animal control officer. The gameplay involves a lot of exploration, moving from screen to screen across fences and into houses. You dig for bones to use as currency for hints and to unlock new areas, and you also collect various items like steaks to restore health. The game can be surprisingly difficult, with precise jumping required and enemies that respawn quickly. Playing it feels like a persistent, slightly frantic scavenger hunt through a familiar yet hostile backyard world.
