Faceball 2000 on SNES is one of those weird early FPS experiments that somehow works. You’re basically a floating smiley face navigating blocky mazes, shooting other smiley faces—and yeah, it’s as ridiculous as it sounds. The controls take a second to get used to (no dual sticks here), but once you do, there’s something oddly satisfying about bouncing around corners and blasting enemies in this stripped-down shooter.
The pixel art has that early ‘90s charm, and the soundtrack is pure bleep-bloop nostalgia. Some levels feel like they go on forever, but that just means more targets to shoot. It’s not Doom, but if you’re into retro oddities, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect a deep story—you’re a smiley. They’re smileys. Go shoot them.
