FIFA '97 on SNES was one of those games that made you feel like you were holding a whole stadium in your hands. The Gold Edition added a few extra teams and leagues, but honestly, the real magic was in how smooth the gameplay felt compared to earlier versions. You could pull off some surprisingly fluid passes and shots—though the goalkeepers still had those weird, robotic animations when they dove.
First thing you notice? The commentary. It’s hilariously repetitive ("What a save! What a save!") but weirdly charming. And the indoor soccer mode? Absolute chaos in the best way—tiny arena, fast rebounds, and way too many slide tackles. If you played this back in the day, booting it up now is pure nostalgia. If you didn’t, it’s a fun little time capsule of mid-’90s soccer games.
Just don’t expect hyper-realistic graphics—this was the SNES, after all.
