About F1 Pole Position (beta)
Human Entertainment released F1 Pole Position for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. This game arrived early in the SNES lifecycle, a time when racing simulations were pushing into new territory with Mode 7 scaling effects. It was one of the first serious Formula One attempts on the console, setting a baseline for what would follow.
You control a single Formula One car from a first-person perspective, navigating through a full season of Grand Prix circuits. Your primary objective is to qualify well and then win each race, managing your car's fuel and tire wear over the distance. The signature mechanics involve precise braking points and hitting the ideal racing line through corners; a single mistake often sends you spinning into the gravel. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is steep, demanding perfect concentration on narrow tracks like Monaco. It feels like a constant, tense battle against the track itself and your own reflexes.
