F-15 Super Strike Eagle on SNES is one of those old-school flight sims that somehow makes pixelated dogfights feel intense. You start off picking your loadout—missiles, bombs, fuel—and then it’s straight into the action over blocky terrain that somehow still feels huge. The controls take a minute to get used to (good luck nailing those tight turns at first), but once you do, weaving through enemy fire and locking onto targets is weirdly satisfying.
It’s not as flashy as modern flight games, but there’s something about the chunky sprites and that classic SNES soundtrack that just works. You’ll crash a lot early on, but figuring out the right altitude for bombing runs or when to dump flares becomes second nature. The Japanese version’s a bit smoother, too, if you can track it down.
Definitely one for retro fans who don’t mind a learning curve.
