Eye of the Beholder on SNES is one of those classic dungeon crawlers where you’re basically thrown into a grid-based nightmare under Waterdeep’s sewers—and it’s awesome. You start by rolling up a party of four (good luck choosing between fighters, mages, and thieves), then immediately get dumped into dark, claustrophobic tunnels where every step could mean a pit trap or some grinning monster waiting to ruin your day.

It’s unforgiving in that old-school AD&D way—no hand-holding, just cryptic clues and a whole lot of scribbling notes on graph paper. The Japan version’s got some weird quirks, like different item names, but the core’s the same: tense, methodical, and weirdly satisfying when you finally crack a puzzle after an hour of banging your head against the wall. Just don’t expect pretty graphics—this is pure, grimy atmosphere.
