About Exhaust Heat
Exhaust Heat came out in 1992 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Seta Corporation. It was part of that wave of early SNES releases that tried different things, a racing game that focused on a specific kind of competition rather than a broad arcade experience.
You control a race car driver competing in a championship. The main goal is to win each race while managing your car's engine temperature. The core mechanics involve drafting behind opponents to reduce wind resistance and, as the title implies, using the exhaust heat from the car in front of you to overheat their engine. You navigate tight tracks, constantly balancing the risk of staying in another car's slipstream for a speed boost against the danger of your own engine overheating from the proximity. The races are tense and methodical, requiring more patience and strategy than outright speed. It feels like a high-stakes game of thermal chess at 200 miles per hour.
