Elfaria on SNES is one of those hidden RPG gems that never got the hype it deserved. You start off picking between three classes—mage, warrior, or rogue—and right away, the sprite work pulls you in. The forests glow with this weird purple haze, and the music? Super dreamy, like you're wandering through some forgotten fairy tale.
Combat’s turn-based but quick, no endless menus. Early on, you’ll stumble into this weird little village where NPCs drop hints about hidden shrines, and suddenly you’re sidetracked for an hour hunting down optional gear. The difficulty spikes hard if you rush ahead, though—I learned that the hard way when a pack of shadow wolves wrecked my underleveled party.
It’s got that classic ‘90s RPG jank (good luck figuring out which stats actually matter), but the world feels alive in a way most SNES games don’t. You’ll either bounce off it in 20 minutes or lose a weekend to it.
