About Eek! The Cat
I remember picking up Eek! The Cat for the Super Nintendo back in 1994. It was published by Ocean Software, a company known for a lot of licensed games from that period. On a system filled with platformers, this one was based on the cartoon, so it had a certain look and feel that was common for TV show adaptations at the time.
You control Eek the cat, moving him through side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to rescue your girlfriend, Annabelle, from the clutches of the evil Sharky the Sharkdog. The gameplay involves a lot of running and jumping across platforms, but Eek has a unique pogo move with his umbrella that lets you bounce on enemies. You also collect fish bones to earn extra lives. The levels can be pretty unforgiving, with tricky enemy placements and some precise platforming required. It feels like a standard cartoon platformer that can test your patience.
