Combat is turn based, requiring you to manage magic points and health carefully against surprisingly tough enemies. Your main objective is to find all the runes, but the twist is that the other six apprentices are also hunting them, and you will occasionally meet them; these encounters can lead to temporary alliances or sudden, difficult battles. The pacing is deliberate, and the game is known for its steep difficulty curve, demanding careful grinding and resource management. Playing it feels like a long, solitary journey where every victory is earned through persistence.
