About Earthworm Jim (europe)
Earthworm Jim came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Shiny Entertainment. It was part of that wave of games on the system that leaned into weird concepts and exaggerated cartoon style, standing out from the more straightforward platformers of the time.
You control Jim, an earthworm in a powerful robotic suit, and your goal is to rescue Princess What's-Her-Name from the evil Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-Butt. You move through levels screen by screen, using Jim's blaster to fight off bizarre enemies like crows and evil cats. His worm body is also a tool; you can use it as a whip to attack or swing from hooks, and you can aim your gun in multiple directions while running. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with instant death pits and tricky enemy patterns. Playing it feels like navigating a chaotic cartoon where you are never quite sure what will happen next.
