Earthbound - Holiday Hex is basically the weird, wonderful Earthbound you love, but drenched in holiday cheer. You start off in a snow-covered Onett, where even the local punks are wearing Santa hats—and yeah, they still pick fights with you. The dialogue’s got that same offbeat humor, just with more candy cane puns and NPCs complaining about fruitcake.
Combat’s the usual turn-based stuff, but enemies are now things like rogue snowmen and overzealous carolers. I accidentally healed one with a gingerbread cookie instead of attacking—turns out some of them just want snacks, not a fight. The music’s all sleigh bells and chiptune renditions of holiday tunes, which somehow works perfectly with Earthbound’s vibe.
It’s short, sweet, and packed with little details (check the trash cans—trust me). If you’ve ever wanted to fight a possessed Christmas tree while Ness hums Jingle Bells, this is your game.
