Play Earthbound - Hallow's End Online

Earthbound came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Ape Inc. and HAL Laboratory. It was part of that era when RPGs on the console were experimenting with more contemporary settings instead of just high fantasy. You play as a kid named Ness, living in a suburb that feels familiar at first, but the story quickly pulls you into a much larger, stranger adventure.

You control Ness and a growing party of friends, navigating the world screen by screen in a top down view. Your main goal is to travel across the land and defeat an alien threat, Giygas. The combat is turn based, but it uses a rolling health meter; your HP decreases gradually after a hit, so you can sometimes heal or win the fight before your life fully depletes. You also use items like baseball bats and fry pans, and you can sometimes avoid fights entirely if you surprise an enemy on the field. The pacing is deliberate, with some challenging difficulty spikes, especially in certain dungeons. It feels like a long, personal journey that mixes everyday moments with the completely bizarre.
