About Espn Hockey Night
ESPN Hockey Night came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Park Place Productions. It was one of several hockey titles on the system, arriving during a period when sports games were becoming more detailed and licensed. This one had the official NHL teams and players, which was a big part of its appeal at the time.
You control a five man hockey team, skating up and down the rink to shoot the puck into the opponent's net. The main goal is to outscore the other team, either in a single exhibition match or across a full season and playoff mode. Signature mechanics include body checking to separate players from the puck and a create a player feature to design your own athlete. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty can be unforgiving if you are not careful with your positioning. It feels like a straightforward arcade style hockey game that gets you right into the action.
