About Espn Baseball Tonight (beta)
ESPN Baseball Tonight (Beta) came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, published by Sony Imagesoft. It was part of that wave of officially licensed sports titles trying to capture the feel of a live broadcast on the 16-bit consoles.
You control all nine players on your chosen Major League Baseball team, stepping up to bat and taking the field for innings of play. The main goal is straightforward: outscore the opposing team over nine innings. A couple of mechanics stand out. The pitching interface uses a cursor you position over the strike zone to select your pitch type and location, while batting involves timing your swing as the ball crosses the plate. Fielding is generally automatic, with the computer handling most of the movement once a ball is put into play. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving, especially when trying to connect with pitches. It feels like a quick, challenging arcade take on baseball where a single mistimed swing can decide the game.
