Duel: Test Drive II on SNES is one of those racing games that looks deceptively simple at first—until you realize how much can go wrong. You’re not just racing against the clock or an AI opponent; you’re dodging traffic, outrunning cops, and praying you don’t veer off into a tree. And if you pick the harder modes? Good luck managing manual transmission while keeping an eye on your gas gauge and engine heat.
The graphics still hold up surprisingly well for an SNES racer—way cleaner than most of its peers. Starting on easy gives you automatic shifting (a nice breather), but the real challenge kicks in when you go manual. Miss a gear change at high speed, and your engine’s toast. It’s the kind of game where one bad decision spirals fast, but that’s what makes nailing a clean run so satisfying.
Definitely worth a play if you’re into old-school racers that don’t hold your hand.
