Duel, The - Test Drive Ii (europe) Game

Man, Duel: Test Drive II on SNES takes me back. It’s one of those early racing games where you pick a car—nothing too fancy, just a handful of classics—and hit the road. The tracks are these winding, hilly courses with traffic that somehow always swerves right into you at the worst moment.
First time I played, I went straight for the Ferrari (obviously), but the handling was so slippery I ended up in a ditch before the first checkpoint. The Porsche felt way more manageable, though you still had to wrestle with the SNES controller’s stiff D-pad to keep it on the road. And don’t even get me started on the police chases—those guys show up out of nowhere.
It’s janky by today’s standards, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about nailing a perfect drift around a hairpin turn while your engine whines in protest. If you’re into retro racers, this one’s a nostalgia trip with just enough challenge to keep you from rage-quitting. Mostly.
