About Dual Orb Ii (japan)
Dual Orb II came out in 1994 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by I'Max. It was part of that wave of mid-90s RPGs on the SNES, a time when developers were really figuring out how to build expansive worlds within the console's limits. You don't hear about it as often as some others, but it has its own place.
You control a young hero named Evan, starting from his quiet village and getting pulled into a conflict involving ancient orbs. The main goal is to prevent a dark power from reassembling these artifacts. You explore the world screen by screen, navigating towns and dungeons with random enemy encounters. Combat is turn-based, letting you choose attacks, magic, or items for your party. A notable mechanic is the ability to switch between a standard overhead view and a first-person perspective in dungeons, which changes how you search for secrets. The pacing is deliberate, and some of the later dungeons can be quite challenging with their puzzles and enemy strength. Playing it feels like a methodical journey where your careful planning in battles and exploration is consistently rewarded.
