Dragon Quest I & II on SNES is basically where it all started—two classic RPGs bundled together, and you can tell they’re rough around the edges compared to later entries. The first game is super simple: just you, a sword, and a straightforward "go kill the dragon" quest. No party members, no fancy skills—just pure old-school grinding in those green fields outside the starting town.
The second game throws in a party system and a bigger world to explore, though the difficulty spikes hard near the end unless you’ve been grinding like crazy. The SNES version gives the pixel art a nice glow-up from the NES originals, and the music’s still those iconic tunes you’ll hum for days. It’s clunky by modern standards, but there’s something charming about how straightforward it all is. If you’re into RPG history, this is like flipping through a medieval picture book with turn-based combat.
