Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu is one of those old-school SNES RPGs that somehow flew under the radar back in the day—probably because it never got an official English release until fans translated it. You start off picking your squad from the Z Fighters (I always go with Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo, but Trunks is solid too).
The combat’s turn-based with this weird card system where you chain attacks together—took me a few battles to stop accidentally wasting my Kamehameha cards too early. The sprites are surprisingly crisp for a 16-bit DBZ game, especially when someone transforms. And yeah, you’ll definitely hear that classic "over 9000" scene in your head during the Saiyan Saga fights.
It’s not perfect—some of the random encounters drag on—but there’s something satisfying about building your team’s power levels through the Cell saga. Just don’t expect modern RPG depth; this is pure 90s anime nostalgia with a side of grinding.
