Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu on SNES is one of those RPGs that just feels like the show—you start off picking between Goku, Vegeta, or Piccolo (I always go Vegeta first, obviously), and suddenly you're grinding through Frieza's goons with that crunchy 16-bit energy. The sprites are big, the special moves actually look like the anime, and yeah, you'll definitely spam Kamehameha more than you should.
This English beta’s a little rough—some menus are still in Japanese, and the translation gets weird in spots—but it’s wild playing through the Saiyan and Namek sagas with turn-based fights that actually make you think about ki management. Pro tip: Don’t sleep on Gohan’s potential. He starts weak but ends up wrecking shop if you train him right.
It’s not perfect, but for a 90s DBZ RPG? Still holds up better than it has any right to.
