Dr. was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991 by Capcom. It arrived during a period when the SNES library was expanding with many different types of games, and this one offered a particular kind of puzzle challenge. You don't see many games like it, even from that era.

You control a character who must clear each single-screen level of viruses by matching colored capsules. The main objective is to eliminate all the viruses before your accumulating pill pile reaches the top of the playfield. Your primary tools are a pair of capsules that you rotate and drop; matching four of the same color in a row, either vertically or horizontally, makes them disappear. The core loop involves careful placement, planning chain reactions, and sometimes using the bouncing bonus capsules to your advantage. The game starts calmly but the pace quickens significantly as you progress, and the later stages demand fast thinking under pressure. It feels like a constant, engaging battle against a rising tide of your own making.
