Double Dragon V is that weird one in the series where they ditched the side-scrolling brawler action and went full-on Street Fighter clone. I remember popping it into my SNES expecting to smash through waves of thugs like the old games, only to get thrown into a 1v1 fighting arena. Not bad if you're into that, but definitely not what Double Dragon fans were expecting.
The roster's got all the usual suspects—Billy, Jimmy, a few new faces—but the fighting feels stiff compared to stuff like Mortal Kombat. Still, there's something oddly charming about the janky special moves and the way the sprites animate. If you go in knowing it's more of a novelty than a serious fighter, you might have some dumb fun with it.
Honestly, it's more interesting as a weird footnote in Double Dragon history than as an actual fighting game.
