About Double Dragon (dos)
Double Dragon is a side view beat 'em up video game originally released for MS-DOS in 1988. It was developed by Technos Japan Corp. and published by Arcadia Systems, Inc. The game is set in a post apocalyptic version of New York City.
Players control one of the twin brothers, Billy or Jimmy Lee, on a mission to rescue Billy's girlfriend Marian from a gang called the Black Warriors. The primary objective is to fight through a series of urban and industrial environments, moving from left to right across the screen. Gameplay involves using a combination of basic punches, kicks, and special moves like an elbow strike to defeat waves of enemy characters. Players can also pick up and use various weapons found in the environment, such as bats or whips, to gain an advantage in combat. The progression is linear, taking the player through distinct areas including a city slum, an industrial zone, and a forest before reaching the gang's hideout for a final confrontation.
The MS DOS version includes a versus fighting mode for one or two players. In this mode, players select from a roster of six characters, which includes Billy and several enemy characters from the main game. The mode consists of one on one matches where players use attacks and available weapons to deplete the opponent's health bar. The winner is the character who defeats all opponents in the match.
