About Doom (japan)
Doom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1995, developed by Sculptured Software. It was a notable release for the console, bringing a PC first person shooter to a 16 bit platform that wasn't really built for that kind of game.
You control a space marine fighting through research bases overrun by demons. Your goal is to survive each level, find the exit, and ultimately stop the invasion. You explore the facilities screen by screen, managing a small arsenal of weapons like a shotgun and a chainsaw while hunting for colored keycards to open new areas. The game is fast and difficult, with enemies that react quickly to your presence. It feels surprisingly immediate and tense for a game running on the SNES.
