Donald Duck No Maui Mallard is one of those weird, forgotten Disney platformers from the SNES era—but it’s way better than it has any right to be. You play as Donald (or his Indiana Jones-esque alter ego, Maui Mallard), hopping through jungles, dodging traps, and tossing boomerangs at enemies. The controls are tight, the pixel art has that classic Disney charm, and the music? Surprisingly catchy.
It’s not as polished as, say, Mickey Mania, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the way Donald moves—especially when he transforms into Maui and gets a whole new set of animations. The levels can get a little repetitive, but the variety in environments (temples, caves, even a minecart section) keeps it from feeling stale. If you’re into retro platformers with personality, this one’s a solid hidden gem.
