Dominium is a real-time strategy game released in 1992 for the MS-DOS platform, developed and published by Microïds. The game presents a top-down perspective on a science fiction conflict where the player assumes the role of a Knight from the Galactic New Round Table. This character is dispatched to the Dominium system, which is under threat from an aggressive neighboring force, to serve as a military observer and organize its defense.

Players control the defense efforts for Dominium, starting with limited human and material resources. The primary objective is to explore the hexagonally-gridded map, which features varied terrain like fields and mountains, while managing the Fog of War. Gameplay involves constructing a factory to produce units, then directing those units to locate and collect resources such as gold and energy deposits. These resources are used to build additional units, refuel existing ones, and ultimately engage the enemy forces of the Dominium Baron. Progression occurs in real time, with unit movement between grid cells consuming fuel. There are eight unit types available, including ground vehicles like Jeeps and Armor, aircraft such as Fighters, and naval units like Frigates. Each unit is defined by eight statistical parameters covering attributes like speed, firepower, and shielding, which influence its production cost. Strategic advisories are provided during play by in-game characters who report on events beyond the player's immediate view.

The game is structured around individual levels, each concluding with the player receiving a four-digit stellar code that allows that specific scenario to be replayed from the main menu. Overall campaign progress can be saved to a file for later continuation. Dominium supports both single-player campaigns and a two-player competitive mode, which can be played via a cable connection. In this multiplayer mode, participants can choose to each control a Baron faction or play without any Baron forces present.
