About Dodgeball
I first played Dodgeball on the Super Nintendo back in 1991. It was developed by Technos Japan, the same company behind the Kunio-kun games like River City Ransom. On a system known for its platformers and RPGs, this was a straightforward sports title that stood out for its sheer chaos.
You control a team of kids on a single-screen court, trying to knock out all the opposing players with a dodgeball. The main goal is to win matches in a tournament to become the champion. Key mechanics include catching a thrown ball to protect yourself, charging up your throws for more power, and using special super throws that can hit multiple opponents. The game moves quickly, and the computer opponents are surprisingly aggressive, making each match a frantic scramble. It feels like a playground brawl disguised as a sport.
