About Devils Course
Devils Course came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed by T&E Soft. It was part of that wave of early 90s games exploring new ideas on the console, a time when developers were testing what the hardware could do beyond the usual platformers and RPGs. You don't hear about it as much as some other titles from that year, but it had its own particular flavor.
You control a character navigating a series of puzzle rooms, with the main goal being to escape each stage. The core of the game is its screen by screen exploration; you push blocks to create paths, avoid enemies that reset your progress, and search for keys to unlock doors. It's a methodical game, requiring you to think a few steps ahead, and the difficulty comes from figuring out the single correct sequence of moves. The feeling of finally solving a stubborn room after several failed attempts is a quiet, personal victory.
