Demolition Man on SNES is one of those weirdly fun movie tie-ins that actually holds up. You play as John Spartan (Stallone’s character from the film), blasting through levels with a mix of shooting, platforming, and the occasional weird puzzle. The controls take a second to get used to—jumping feels a little floaty at first—but once you adjust, it’s satisfying to chain together shots while dodging Phoenix’s goons.
The levels are surprisingly varied—one minute you’re in a grimy underground tunnel, the next you’re dodging lasers in some futuristic corporate hellscape. And yeah, the graphics are bright and chunky in that classic SNES way, with some cool sprite work for explosions. Don’t expect a deep story, but if you’ve seen the movie, the little nods (like the infamous "three seashells" joke) are a nice touch.
It’s not perfect—some sections feel unfairly cheap, and the soundtrack is just okay—but there’s something about the sheer 90s cheese of it all that makes it worth a play. Just be ready to retry a few times when the platforming gets mean.
