Ever played a Christmas game that actually feels like the holidays? Daze Before Christmas on SNES nails it—you’re Santa, but not the jolly old man you’d expect. Some creepy snowman’s ruining Christmas, and suddenly you’re platforming through toy factories and icy caves, throwing presents at evil gingerbread men (weird, right?).
The music’s all sleigh bells and cheer, but don’t let that fool you—some of those jumps are brutal. Santa’s got this weird floaty jump at first, but once you get used to it, bouncing off candy canes and tossing toys at enemies feels oddly satisfying. Found myself laughing at the absurdity of fighting a giant evil snow globe boss.
It’s short, kinda clunky in that classic SNES way, but there’s charm in its weirdness. Perfect for a December nostalgia trip with hot cocoa. Just don’t expect a masterpiece—expect a stocking stuffed with janky holiday fun.
