About Darius Twin
Darius Twin came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, a horizontal shooter from Taito. It arrived early in the console's life, a time when developers were figuring out how to use its hardware. The game is part of the long running Darius series, known for its branching paths and aquatic themed enemies.
You pilot a Silver Hawk spacecraft, moving from left to right across the screen. Your main goal is to survive the stages and defeat the giant biomechanical bosses at the end of each zone. You collect power ups to upgrade your main shot and a separate, screen clearing bomb. A key mechanic is the branching path system; after beating a boss, you choose one of two or three possible stages to tackle next, which changes the levels you see and the final boss you face. The pacing is relentless, with enemy patterns that require quick reflexes and memorization. It feels like a tense, high stakes journey through an alien ocean.
