About D Ballz 2 Jap
I picked up D Ballz 2 Jap for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1994. It was published by Bandai, and it fit right in with the kind of experimental fighting games that were popping up on the SNES around that time. It wasn't a mainstream title, but it had a certain charm that made it stand out on the rental shelf.
You control one of several characters, each with their own set of special moves, and the goal is to defeat your opponent in one-on-one combat. The game uses a screen by screen structure for its single player mode, moving you through a series of fights. A couple of its signature mechanics include the ability to reflect projectiles back at your foe and a super move system that builds as you land hits. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially against later computer opponents who block relentlessly. It feels like a scrappy, straightforward brawler that doesn't overcomplicate its simple premise.
