D-Force came out in 1991 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Asmik Ace Entertainment. It was part of that early wave of SNES games that experimented with different genres, in this case blending run and gun action with light vehicle simulation. You pilot a transforming attack vehicle, switching between a ground tank and a hovering aircraft on the fly. Your goal is to fight through a series of militarized stages, destroying enemy installations and defeating large bosses. The core mechanics involve managing your vehicle's two forms; the tank is slower but more durable, while the aircraft is nimble and can fly over certain obstacles. You also collect power-ups to enhance your main cannon and seek out hidden bonus items for extra points. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all directions, and the difficulty can be punishing if you aren't careful with your positioning and form changes.
