Cyber Knight is one of those weird, ambitious SNES RPGs that never made it outside Japan—thankfully, Aeon Genesis patched it into English so we didn’t miss out. You start off as this rookie space pilot, but don’t expect a typical sci-fi adventure. The game throws you into these clunky mech suits (they handle like tanks, honestly) and suddenly you’re juggling ship battles, planet exploration, and weirdly deep crew management.
First ten minutes? You’re fumbling through menus trying to figure out how to repair your ship’s hull while some alien faction blasts at you from orbit. The combat’s slow but weirdly tactical—positioning matters, and your crew actually has skills that change how fights play out. Graphics are… very 1993, but there’s charm in the chunky pixel art and those synth-heavy space battle tunes.
Fair warning: it’s janky in places, and the translation’s a bit rough. But if you’re into obscure SNES sci-fi with a mix of strategy and RPG elements, it’s a neat time capsule. Just save often—those random encounters can wreck you.
