About Crayon Shin-chan - Arashi O Yobu Enji (japan)

I first played Crayon Shin-chan: Arashi o Yobu Enji on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1993. It was developed by Bandai, a company known for its tie-in games, and it felt very much like a product of its time on the SNES. The game captures the look and humor of the popular anime, placing you right in the middle of its chaotic world without trying to be anything more than a fun, straightforward platformer.

You control Shin-chan, the mischievous little boy, through side-scrolling levels. Your main goal is to rescue your sister, Himawari, who has been kidnapped. You run, jump, and use a water squirt gun to defeat enemies, which is a simple but fitting mechanic for the character. The levels are filled with environmental hazards and occasional puzzles that require you to interact with objects or NPCs. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be surprisingly sharp in spots, demanding quick reflexes to navigate some of the trickier platforming sections. Playing it feels like stepping into a short, interactive episode of the show, full of its signature silly charm.
