About Corsarios
Corsarios is a side-view arcade brawler released for MS-DOS in 1989 by the Spanish developer and publisher Opera Soft S.A. The game is set in a pirate-themed Caribbean environment and is structured as two distinct, standalone segments that the player can access separately.
In the first segment, the player controls a protagonist stranded on a wild island. The primary objective is to fight through continuous waves of hostile pirates who attack using various weapons, including sabers and blunderbusses. The player character relies on hand-to-hand combat, utilizing punches and kicks to defeat enemies while navigating across the island landscape. Progression is linear, with the goal of reaching the opposite shore where a small boat awaits to facilitate escape from the island.
The second segment takes place aboard a pirate galleon and features a different gameplay system. Here, the player again assumes the role of the hero, now tasked with rescuing a captive woman before she is threatened by sharks. Instead of direct fisticuffs, combat is conducted using a sword to eliminate opposing pirates. The stage is structured vertically, requiring the player to ascend the ship's different masts by climbing toward pirate flags positioned at the top. Success depends on navigating this environment and defeating enemies efficiently to reach the captive in time.
