Coron Land (japan) Game

Coron Land is one of those weird, charming SNES games that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this oddball mix of action and adventure that just sticks with you. You play as Hyou and Kiyu, two kids trying to return a stolen snow goddess statue to their frozen village. The eternal winter thing sounds dramatic, but the game keeps it light with bright, almost pastel-colored levels and these little penguin enemies that waddle at you like they’re not even trying.
At first, it feels like a basic platformer, but then you realize you can switch between the two characters on the fly—Hyou’s faster, Kiyu’s stronger, and figuring out when to swap is half the fun. The snowball-throwing mechanic is clunky in that classic early-90s way, but once you get the timing down, it’s weirdly satisfying. Also, the music? Surprisingly catchy for a game about ending winter.
It’s not some hidden masterpiece, but if you’re into obscure SNES stuff, this one’s got enough personality to make it worth a playthrough.
