Man, The Combatribes is one of those classic SNES beat 'em ups that just oozes early '90s arcade energy. You pick from three beefy vigilantes—Bullova, Berzerker, or Blitz—and then punch, kick, and suplex your way through waves of neon-clad street thugs. The sprites are huge, the hits feel chunky, and there’s something deeply satisfying about grabbing two guys at once and smashing their heads together.
New York’s a mess here—subway stations, back alleys, even rooftops—and every level ends with a ridiculous boss fight (one dude’s literally on roller skates). It’s not the deepest brawler out there, but the sheer chaos of tossing enemies into traffic or off buildings never gets old. Just don’t expect a deep story—this is pure, dumb fun with a side of elbow drops.
If you’re into games where you can yell “COWABUNGA” while dropkicking a clown, this one’s got your back.
