About Combatribes, The
I first played The Combatribes on the Super Nintendo in 1992, a release from Technos Japan. It arrived during a time when the SNES was full of arcade-style brawlers, and this one fit right in with its urban street-fighting premise.
You control one of three vigilantes, each with their own build and strength, fighting through waves of thugs across different city locations. The main goal is to clean up the crime-ridden streets by beating up everyone in your path. A couple of its signature mechanics are the ability to pick up and throw enemies, sometimes into the screen, and the use of weapons like pipes and bats found on the ground. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially when you get surrounded. It feels like a straightforward, aggressive brawl from start to finish.
